Ray J. Groves Biography

- Former Chairman and CEO of Ernst & Young
Ray Groves joined the EDS Board of Directors on 07 June 1996. Groves was with Ernst & Young for 37 years, serving as chairman and chief executive officer for the last 17 years until his retirement in 1994. Groves was chairman of Legg Mason Merchant Banking, Inc. from 1995 to 2001. He served as president, chairman and senior advisor of Marsh Inc. from 2001 to 2005.
Groves also serves as a member of the board of directors of Boston Scientific Corporation and the Colorado Physicians Insurance Company. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Groves is former chairman of the board of directors of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and a former member of the board of governors of the American Stock Exchange and the National Association of Securities Dealers.
Groves is also a member and former chair of the board of directors of The Ohio State University Foundation, and is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Fisher College of Business. He is a former member of the board of overseers of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and served as the chairman of its Center for the Study of the Service Sector.
Groves is a managing director of The Metropolitan Opera Association, and serves on the board of directors of The Collegiate Chorale.
