EDS Best Shore®
In 1996, EDS India was formed as a wholly owned subsidiary. Maturing very quickly, the subsidiary became the first company in India to sign a multiyear global outsourcing contract. Early emergence in the region put EDS India at the forefront of the offshore trend, developing many of EDS' current best practices in work migration and knowledge transfer.
In mid-2006, EDS acquired a majority stake in MphasiS BFL Limited, a leading applications and business process outsourcing (BPO) services company based in Bangalore, India. With the addition of MphasiS and current expansion plans, EDS' total India work force is projected to exceed 20,000 by 2007.
EDS offers the same high-quality IT services that clients expect, delivered through highly-skilled, experienced teams in India. EDS supports Fortune 2000 clients from multiple locations in India – Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Gurgaon – with services that are completely integrated with EDS' global delivery model.
Global Service Centers are being built in Chennai and Pune with campus-like environments that include Applications, Business Process Outsourcing and IT Outsourcing. These centers will become Best Shore flagships and form the foundation of EDS' Best Shore strategy.

Concentrated recruiting and training efforts are enabling high-quality service delivery while maintaining or improving upon current service levels. Close proximity to colleges and universities ensure an abundant and highly-educated labor pool. EDS then applies rigorous, in-depth training to develop the technical, customer service and language skills employees need to meet client requirements.
Numerous quality management systems and standards are also in place in India. EDS' applications teams have been assessed at SEI CMMI Level 5, the highest level of the Software Engineering Institute's Capability Maturity Model. Contact centers are certified by the International Standards Organization (ISO). IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), along with Six Sigma, global common methods and processes, and other IT best practices result in the highest levels of quality and productivity.

- Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)
- Shared services teams support numerous BPO clients across a wide range of industries through multiple shifts, enabling round-the-clock support and faster work turn around. Capabilities include customer and employee care, technology product support, warranty administration, collections, accounts receivables and payables, and asset management. Service offerings include Help Desk, Contact Center, Finance and Administration, HR, Order Processing and Transaction Services.

- EDS' IT outsourcing best practices are used to improve clients' IT infrastructure, providing higher service levels, greater support and utilization, and increased security.
