Watch the video ASX, 1K, 2:28Digitalization and broadband connectivity have fundamentally changed how entertainment is produced and consumed. To enjoy continued success, your organization must:
- Protect revenues
- Ensure a superior entertainment experience
- Manage the content lifecycle effectively
- Thwart piracy and threats to security
- Exploit new revenue opportunities
An information technology (IT) solution designed for distribution of prepackaged and programmed content created for an unspecific, passive audience is incapable of meeting customers' expectations of on-demand content.
The Answer
Preparing For the New Era of Content
EDS explores what it takes for content companies to thrive in a new media environment as the shift to on-demand programming has implications for studios, networks, program originators and distributors.
You need a solution that gives you the functionality, flexibility and scalability to compete effectively in the changing market landscape. One that lets you:
- Manage digital assets
- Automate and manage content workflow
- Ensure interoperability of systems
- Tailor content to specific audiences
- Support multiformat delivery
- Provide fresh, relevant content
- Implement flexible billing
- Manage customer interaction
- Build out global models
- Protect data
The Results
EDS can help your business distribute content to any device anywhere in the world. For example, our experienced IT professionals built a cutting-edge, mobile communications network for “Titanic Live!” that enabled real-time voice, video and data transmission from 12,500 feet below sea level to interactive broadcast sites nationwide. EDS:
- Supplied full communications for Dr. Robert Ballard's unprecedented return to the R.M.S. Titanic
- Modified a previously built sophisticated portable communications network we had designed specifically for Dr. Ballard's expeditions
- Established a two-way satellite connection between the research ship and our headquarters
- Created an Internet Protocol (IP) converged network that grouped all video, telephone, Internet and data into a single transmission format to reduce complexity, bandwidth and costs
- Captured underwater video with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) equipped with high-resolution video cameras
- Managed an on-deck, video production team that processed the raw video and produced taped segments and live media interviews
- Connected Dr. Ballard to more than 150,000 students in a virtual, real-time exploration experience
Throughout the voyage Dr. Ballard appeared on radio and television programs around the world. And nearly 1.6 million Americans watched the virtual voyage live through a television program that aired on the National Geographic Channel.
