EDS Helps Bottom Line Publications Boost Scalability and Its Own Bottom Line

Boardroom Inc. Case Study

Boardroom Inc. was conceived in 1972 from the then-novel notion that simple insider information on how to run a business more effectively would be helpful to business people. Thus, Boardroom Reports was born. Boardroom Reports eventually led to the development of Bottom Line/Personal and other newsletters offering straightforward insider guides to health, finance, etc., helping people manage their lives more efficiently in an increasingly fast-paced world. Thirty-five years later, Boardroom Inc., through Bottom Line Publications and Bottom Line Books, publishes six print periodicals, two online newsletters and dozens of books offering everything from health advice and investment strategies to retirement planning, real estate tips and consumer information.

With a total circulation of 1 million, Boardroom’s Bottom Line/Personal publication and other newsletters have become the most widely read newsletters ever published. Meanwhile, Bottom Line Books has doubled its books sales in the last few years with an annual sales volume of more than 3 million. The publisher’s readership continues to grow. Yet with the proliferation of digital media and cost pressures from higher postage prices, Boardroom decided it needed a modern, scalable IT platform to sustain growth and ensure its position in the rapidly changing media landscape. The company looked to EDS for a high-quality, high-performance outsourcing partnership that would enable it to achieve this and more.
