Medicaid is the largest health coverage entity in every state, consuming at least 20 percent of state budgets while covering more people and spending more money than Medicare. As Arkansas' fiscal agent for 22 years, EDS has supported and helped develop state-initiated program enhancements aimed at streamlining the state's healthcare process to improve services and access to them for citizens.
EDS now helps the state administer more than $3 billion in Medicaid health benefits annually to 11,500 doctors, hospitals, therapists, nurse practitioners, and other providers. In addition, EDS provides eligibility verification, pharmacy benefits processing, third-party recoveries, decision support, and immunization registry and provider relations.
