Austrian Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Labour (Web Portal) Case Study

Austria's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Labour (BMWA) operates a public Web portal comprising 15,000 pages, which need regular updating. Until recently, the BMWA used an inefficient legacy tool for site management. EDS migrated the legacy system to Microsoft Content Management Server® 2002. EDS also updated the Ministry's e-mail system by installing Microsoft's Exchange 2000® and Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2000®. Today, more than 300 editors maintain the portal's contents autonomously; users update pages in seconds, and only with secure, accurate and reliable information. The BMWA achieved a return on investment within 12 months. In recognition of EDS' innovative approach, and helping the BMWA improve its service to citizens, Microsoft bestowed its Customer Award on EDS.
