Far Eastern International Bank
Bank Quickly Becomes Market Leader with New Credit Card System
In 1998, Taiwan's Far Eastern International Bank could only process about 1,000 new credit card applications daily. In the meantime, with 20,000 existing cardholders, its card processing system had reached maximum capacity. The bank turned to EDS to help implement a scalable application system and technology infrastructure. EDS migrated Far Eastern's card portfolio and authorization system to an EDS-managed data center that dramatically increases processing speeds and enables the bank to introduce new products quickly. This flexibility has enabled Far Eastern to increase its total credit card volume by more than 600 percent, making the bank one of the top five card issuers in the highly competitive Taiwanese market.
