Ministry of Transportation
Italy's Driver Vehicle License Agency, a department of the Ministry of Transportation, needed to replace an aging IT environment that could no longer keep up with the demand for its vehicle licensing services.
We began by moving the Agency's proprietary system to an open-standards platform, then rewrote the applications for easier upgrades in the future. We migrated existing data to an Oracle database, developed a robust data warehouse and ensured interoperability among all offices accessing data. Finally, we created a Web-based portal where drivers can find extensive information relating to their licenses.
The 20,000 subscribers now linked to the system are assured of consistent processes and information exchange. Annually, the system reliably handles more than 2 million license requests, 4 million vehicle registrations, and 9 million reviews of data and documents.
