Government Transportation: Case Studies

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
The FAA oversees traffic control in the busiest air-traffic system in the world; yet its technology infrastructure was a patchwork of programs, hardware and applications all operating in isolation with one another. Under intense pressure from government and industry, the FAA needed a far-reaching, but budget-conscious, overhaul of its systems and infrastructure.
Michigan Department of Transportation
The State of Michigan has decreased traffic accident fatalities across the state through implementation of its CRASH Process Redesign (CPR). This multi-department effort streamlines the flow of critical information to help State Police monitor high-incident areas, the Department of State to request and channel funding in high risk areas, and the Department of Transportation to provide better reporting and visibility to traffic crash data.
Ministry of Transportation
Italy's Driver Vehicle License Agency, a department of the Ministry of Transportation, needed to replace an aging IT environment that could no longer keep up with the demand for its vehicle licensing services.
Transport for London
When London decided to replace life-expired ticketing equipment on its bus and Underground network with an integrated ticketing and revenue system, it chose the TranSys consortium, whose principal partners are EDS and Cubic Transportation Systems, to deliver this ambitious plan.
VicRoads
VicRoads wanted a flexible, innovative IT partner to help upgrade and manage the aging platform supporting its Vehicle Registration and Driver Licensing (R&L) services. It called on EDS to quickly upgrade systems and seamlessly move infrastructure.
