U.S. Army Program Executive Office Simulation Case Study

Since 1950, the U.S. Army's Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI) has worked to keep the Army combat-ready through research and development and advanced training tools. But maintaining an effective collaborative environment between troops in the field and researchers at PEO STRI's Florida headquarters became increasingly difficult. So EDS developed, and now maintains, a collaboration-based management information system. The Web-based solution enables global contractor support through Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software, data reporting tools and technical support. The centralized information storehouse helps PM Field Operations personnel make more-informed decisions and cut costs through economies-of-scale purchasing, transfer of hard-to-find or obsolete parts between contracts, paperwork reduction, and improved information-sharing between contractors and Army personnel.
