What is Enterprise Service Management (ESM)?
Companies today are driving hard to meet the challenges of globalization, increased competition, burgeoning market opportunity, new and more specialized vendor solutions, and increased regulatory scrutiny. But most are attacking these challenges with a rigid and inefficient IT infrastructure. One of the chief contributors to that rigidity is a complex enterprise network whose management has become a complicated – even intricate – affair. It's expensive. And changing it all is fraught with almost mind-numbing risk.
EDS' Enterprise Service Management (ESM) aligns the entire IT organization to common business goals and operating rules using an innovative suite of services and an ITIL-based operating environment that standardizes IT across the enterprise.
EDS clients are realizing substantial benefits from ESM, including reduced operating costs, improved service levels and higher returns on strategic IT investments. ESM helps companies better oversee their IT environments by:
- Enabling competitive advantage by aligning IT deliverables to the business strategy.
- Standardizing and automating the delivery of all IT services across IT towers, business units and service suppliers.
- Using best practice processes to enable end-to-end availability and reliability of the IT environment.
- Integrating multiple suppliers to better manage business outcomes, assess effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement.
- Establishing strong governance frameworks to enable complete visibility into IT operations and agility in decision making.
- Transforming the IT cost structure to get the full business value from each IT capability and service.
Multisupplier Governance
EDS has developed a multisupplier governance framework called Enterprise Service Management (ESM) to help companies manage complex, multisupplier outsourcing agreements and derive more business value from their IT investments.
