Companies face many challenges in supporting the mobile work force. These include:
- Implementing policies and procedures to securely provide the information those workers need while protecting corporate data outside the company’s walls
- Assessing and understanding which device or devices meet user needs best – laptop, personal digital assistant (PDA), tablet device or perhaps some other technology specific to the worker’s job
- Determining whether and how to support the devices – as well as who should pay for laptops, cell phones and cell service charges
What next steps should your company take to address the challenges and support your mobile work force? In order to develop a plan for the future, it’s important to first understand your current situation. The EDS/Harris research study gives a snapshot of where companies and users are today as the environment starts to shift to the “edge of the enterprise.”
