EDS Receives ISO 9001:2000 Recertification For Americas Region Infrastructure Operations
21 Feb 2008
EDS’ eight major service delivery centers in the Americas region have been recertified for the ISO 9001:2000 certificate, marking 10 years that the company has adhered to an internationally recognized quality measurement standard. This recertification reflects EDS' world-class, client-service capabilities and relentless commitment to quality.
This is the fourth ISO 9001:2000 recertification earned by EDS' Americas region, which consists of the United States, Canada and Latin America. The certification, which is renewed every three years, follows three months of extensive audits conducted by SAI Global, an independent ISO standards certification firm.
“In order to truly be an ally for our clients and support their business success, EDS must have a laser-like focus on service quality,” said Tom Egan, senior vice president, EDS Americas Operations. “This recertification recognizes that our Americas operations are world-class and that quality and efficiency continue to be significant differentiators and milestones in EDS' drive to market leadership.”
Egan added that the recertification “represents the ‘gold standard' in quality and is proof positive of EDS' commitment to delivering quality services. As a result of our recertification efforts, EDS can expect to see improved efficiencies in our processes and greater productivity in our workforce.
“There were many months of hard work by EDS' operations team to ensure the region was prepared for success,” said Egan. “My sincere congratulations go to the team.”
SAI Auditors Note EDS’ Positive Trends
A total of 23 strengths were cited in the EDS recertification. SAI auditors specifically noted positive trends across the region during the past three years of critical surveillance including:
- IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process standards
- EDS' commitment and drive to quality and continuous improvement - Zero Outage program
- World-class change processes and discipline
EDS' global recognition and acceptance of ISO 9001:2000 recertification reflects proven, practical benefits including:
- Reduced costs and increased efficiency by better management of key IT processes
- Increased client satisfaction and retention
- Enhanced marketplace profile
Additionally, the EDS regions of EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Asia Pacific maintain ISO certifications and have completed similar audits.
“High-quality delivery of IT services is an integral part of a total business strategy that includes consistency, reliability and security,” said David Tapper, vice president, Outsourcing and Offshore Services, IDC. “Complying with and certifying a company's processes to internationally accepted quality standards demonstrates a commitment to clients and to operational excellence over a sustained period of time that should result in highly reusable practices and processes across a company's entire IT system.”
