Michigan Firm's Virtual Efforts Deliver Real-Life Efficiency

EDS had the first commercial virtual reality center in the United States when it opened in 1995 and it's still one of the few such facilities available for use by other companies. By testing designs in a virtual world before building them, EDS clients save huge amounts of money and time.

The Virtual Reality center in Troy, Michigan, can be used in a number of ways including testing designs for new cars or buildings, organizing the movement of workers and products in a factory, and training emergency personnel to better handle dangerous situations. Nick Bunkley from the Detroit News recently visited the center for a live demonstrations of the systems' capabilities.
