EDS Chief Sees Brighter Skies
With Old Problems Fixed, Jordan Can Focus More On Boosting Profitability

Nearly three years ago, veteran executive Michael H. Jordan left retirement to run Electronic Data Systems Corp., promising a turnaround of the Dallas computer-services company. And the company has seen recent progress.
The Navy contract losses have been significantly reduced. EDS in the latest quarter took writedowns on contracts with Delta Air Lines and auto supplier Delphi Corp. And the company is more often being invited to compete for large outsourcing contracts.
In his remaining time at EDS, Mr. Jordan plans to improve the company’s profitability by investing in technology and facilities that can cut capital requirements and by further centralizing project management.
