EDS Names European Management Team
PLANO, Texas – EDS today announced it has promoted Bill Thomas, vice president and general manager of EDS’ Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) region, to executive vice president and named him to the company’s Executive Committee, effective immediately. Thomas, who will retain his current responsibilities in EMEA, will continue to report to EDS’ Office of the Chairman.
EDS also named Tom Haubenstricker as vice president and chief financial officer for EMEA and Mike Koehler as vice president of EMEA Operations. Haubenstricker will assume responsibility for the region’s financial activities while Koehler gains responsibility for EMEA operations, including delivery, sales and strategy.
“We are very pleased to strengthen our EMEA team by leveraging management talent and experience already resident within EDS,” said Ron Rittenmeyer, EDS chief operating officer. “We are confident that Bill, Tom and Mike will apply their leadership talent and experience to enable our future growth in this critical region.”
Thomas, who has served as vice president and general manager of EMEA since 2003, is responsible for more than $6 billion in annual revenue, nearly 40,000 employees and many of the company’s largest government and commercial accounts.
Thomas joined EDS from SD Scicon, a technology services firm EDS acquired in 1991. During his EDS career, Thomas has held positions of increasing responsibility including managing director of the UK manufacturing division, global account director for EDS’ Rolls-Royce account, and regional vice president of EDS UK and Ireland.
A 21-year EDS veteran, Haubenstricker served as EDS interim co-chief financial officer until August of 2006 and most recently led Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis and Corporate Business Development.
Haubenstricker, who has played an integral role in EDS’ business planning and has led all recent activities in the area of mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, previously served as vice president of Strategic Planning and Business Development and director of Financial Analysis and Reporting. He also spent seven years working for EDS in the EMEA region. Haubenstricker will continue to serve on the MphasiS board of directors.
Tom Erhardt, previously CFO of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) account, has been the interim finance director for EMEA since June and now becomes the vice president, EMEA Finance, reporting directly to Haubenstricker.
Koehler joins the EMEA leadership team after spending the past two-and-a-half years as enterprise client executive on the landmark NMCI account. Koehler’s leadership was a critical factor in NMCI’s improved performance and its contract extension to 2010.
Koehler joined EDS in 2004 from the Feld Group, where he rose to the position of chief operating officer. In his 10 years with the Feld Group, Koehler played key or lead roles in large-scale IT reengineering projects at CBS/Westinghouse, Delta Air Lines and AmeriServe Food Distribution, Inc. Koehler began his career in IBM’s Consulting Practice.
Koehler will be replaced as NMCI account executive by Doug Davis, who most recently led service delivery for EDS EMEA.About EDS
