EDS To Provide Electronic Fares Services To Continental Airlines

PLANO, Texas – EDS today announced it has reached an agreement with Continental Airlines to provide the airline with EDS Electronic Fares Services, one solution of a broad suite of leveraged passenger airline industry applications available from EDS. This agreement is an addition to the information technology (IT) outsourcing agreement EDS and Continental announced on October 23, 2007. The add-on agreement was signed in the fourth quarter of 2007 and financial terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.

EDS Electronic Fares Services is a fare quote solution built on flexible, scalable technology that provides airlines, airline reservations systems, global distribution systems and travel portals an enhanced competitive edge by reducing costs and optimizing revenue through the ability to quickly access accurate and reliable air fares.

Continental is achieving this competitive advantage in the marketplace by being one of the first major carriers to migrate onto EDS Electronic Fares Services.

“Through this agreement, Continental will achieve quantifiable operational improvements and enhance the delivery of services to our customers,” said Ferdy Khater, staff vice president, Systems Development, Continental Airlines. “This agreement is aligned to our IT roadmap and consistent with the intent of our IT outsourcing strategy to work jointly with EDS to modernize, improve and expand the applications functionality available to Continental.”

“For EDS, this agreement is a first step in working with Continental on a joint applications modernization strategy,” said Eric Harte, vice president and leader of EDS’ Global Air Services industry group. “Continental will leverage our extensive passenger airline industry applications and legacy transformation capabilities to enhance services to their clients, and we look forward to our continued joint effort to develop and deliver business solutions for Continental customers.”

As the leading global airline IT services provider, EDS brings world-class technology solutions and infrastructure to help airlines and transportation customers sustain competitive advantage in a tightly constrained market.
