State Government Improves Service with Online Filing Systems
When the federal Uniform Commercial Code was modified to allow electronic submission of certain mandatory financial reports, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts turned to EDS to design and implement a new Web site to enable these capabilities. Now users can complete paperwork and pay filing fees online. Meanwhile, submissions still coming in via mail, fax or walk-in can now be easily scanned and uploaded to a centralized database, greatly reducing the amount of manual processing required. Further, users can access that database online to verify status and request certified copies. Today, most submissions are approved in 24 hours or less. And the online document management system has eliminated the need for paper and microfiche archives and the man-hours to manage them.
