Partners and planning

I've been a bit busy this week, so my blogging time has been absorbed in other tasks.
One of those is the upcoming face-to-face meeting for the EDS Fellows, and I am coordinating the agenda. I've previously mentioned the EDS Distinguished SE program that we started last year. They will be attending this meeting as well, as a way to broaden their exposure and inject some new ideas. We're going to be discussing and hopefully planning to address many of the items that have been mentioned in this blog over the last view months.
We're trying something different as well, spending the first day and a half leveraging the EDS Alliance participants and having their engineers working directly with the Fellows and DSEs to define the actions for the coming year. Hopefully it will work out, since my perspective is diversity of perspective builds strength - assuming you don't strangle each other in the process.
Almost everyone believes that companies need to develop stronger ties with their suppliers and consumers. Drawing them into the planning process seems to be a critical component that some companies overlook. Bringing them all into a meeting at the same time may not work, but I doubt that it will be boring.
