Nanotechnology and The Consumer

by Randy Mears

After posting my blog on nanotubes I found this great link that very neatly brings together an extensive list of nanotechnology consumer products. There are more than 200 consumer products of all types listed here.

If the marketingdepartment of EDS is not AFRAID of the new rules in human communication, they find a new approach in nanotech. This subject will open our eyes for an authentic world, where EDS is using their inspiration from the soul to balance it with the hard part of ICT. Yes , we need to earn money every day. But not by target of a Balanced Score Card, and not by target of the Monthly turnover figures. Just by using heart and soul, and working with nanotech as a portal for new thinking about ourselves, we will re-invent what we alreay know;our best inner communication possibilities, and more money then EDS can handle.

Ton, looks like Randy's on vacation this week, so I thought I'd respond to your comment.

I assume the ICT you mentioned is Information and Computing Technology.

I appreciate the fervor your bring to your perspective on nano-technology. EDS like all public companies has responsibilities to our stock holders as well as our clients to bring the best technology that can be reliably delivered today. EDS is not a hardware company, but a technical services company that eeks its value through the effective management and operations of computer systems (among other things).

Management tools like balanced scorecards and service level agreements allow us to have the insight on what is currently happening, as well as provide the foundation for speculation on the financial effect of changes. We can then plan for the use of nano-tech and influence our suppliers about what it can do for our clients.

I definitely try to keep my eye open for interesting implications and use of nano-technology and have (on occasion) even expressed that enthusiasm on this blog.
