Robo-ethics - care and feeding of man's new best friend

by Charlie Bess

I came across this article in the BBC news titled: Robotic age poses ethical dilemma. The article talks about an effort to define standards for the use of Robots.

Some of the examples given were a bit too much imparting human characteristics about a tool but near the end it mentioned Isaac Asimov's three laws of robotics and that made me feel like there was some sanity being brought to bear.

This may all be fallout of the attempt to make a sentry robot. On the other hand, it looks like IEEE has been looking into robo-ethics as well.

There was even a blog entry in roughtype about it.
