Graphic relationship of scientific paradigms

I came across an article in Seed magazine talking about an effort that sorted roughly 800,000 published papers into 776 different scientific paradigms. They then graphed it into an intriguing diagram that shows the links between the paradigms. Here is a link to another (I assume earlier) illustration.
It is a bit big and hard to review on paper without a D size plotter, but they will send you a poster if you'll pay for the shipping.
There is also link to an article by one of the creators on how they came up with the image, that describes the display algorithm used ...
Anyone who is interested in technology or the sciences should take a look.
